Arts & Minds Network

The Arts and Minds Network brings together people in Leeds who believe that creativity can promote mental wellbeing. The Network supports creative people who have had mental health issues, but also encourages everyone to be more creative.

Arts and Minds is a membership organisation - anyone who is interested in the arts and wellbeing is welcome. It's free ad it's easy to join!

The Network runs a monthly meet-up called Connect & Create at The Tetley. It's a great way to meet new people and find out what is going on in Leeds. If you feel like going to cultural events but aren't sure about going on your own, The Culture Club might be for you. The Club is a friendly group of people with experience of mental health issues who go to plays, concerts, exhibitions and art events. The Culture Club gets reduced price tickets and lots of special offers. Arts & Minds also manages the Love Arts Leeds festival - a city-wide celebration of the arts and mental health held each year in October.

Swarthmore Centre

Swarthmore Centre runs arts and craft courses in a friendly informal environment in the centre of Leeds. Courses run both during the day and at night and include art, drama, pottery, stained glass and jewellery.

Mentally Healthy Leeds

Mentally Healthy Leeds is a public mental health service which is all about good mental health for everyone. The service runs a variety of groups, activities and workshops which can help you get creative including music and craft sessions. Check out their social media for updates.

Space2 runs a variety of arts events, projects and weekly groups at the Old Fire Station in Gipton and across Leeds, such as craft activities and creative writing. Check out social media for updates.

Inkwell Arts - a safe, creative and accessible arts space based in Chapel Allerton. InkWell is a Leeds Mind project and offers a programme of low-cost art and craft classes, events and a craft cafe.

East Street Arts is a contemporary arts organisation based in Leeds. East Street Arts learning programme provides opportunities for young people, families, adults and schools to participate in and engage with contemporary, artists and a range of arts activities.

The Art Room @ The Digital Lounge provides free adult art therapy groups and one-to-one sessions. Sessions are run by trained psychotherapists and can help people to cope with different difficulties including anxiety, stress, depression and bereavement. Cloth Cat Leeds - charity based in inner-city Leeds that uses music training to help local people learn new skills, develop their musical talent, find ways into employment and build confidence.

Skippo runs innovative and exciting visual arts projects in Leeds.

Oblong is an arts and crafts group based at Woodhouse Community Centre. Offers a free weekly arts and crafts group.

Leeds Survivor Poetry - survivor-run organisation which provides a safe space where people can explore their creativity through poetry and other creative writing.

Urban Sprawl - Yorkshire's only homeless theatre company, working with people who are homeless or who have been homeless.

Fall into Place Community Theatre provides accessible and supportive theatre workshops which are open to anyone in Leeds. Workshops can help with relaxation, improving confidence and dealing with stress and anxiety. They also run a weekly intergenerational drama group bringing together people of all ages (young people and people over 65 are particularly encouraged to take part).

Feel Good Factor - charity based in Chapeltown which provides a range of community health and wellbeing activities for people living in Chapeltown and Harehills, including art courses.

Harmony Choir is a friendly, cross-community choir, based in Burmantofts, for anyone in Leeds.

Little London Arts run arts and crafts classes for adults (weekly during term time). Tuesdays 1-3pm, Little London Community Centre, Oatland Lane, Leeds, LS7 1SP. Anyone over 18 can join the friendly group and take part in a variety of arts and crafts activities with seasonal themes. You can also take part in optional activities such as theatre visits and outdoor trips at reduced cost. Sessions cost £5/£3 (unwaged/on benefits) including materials and refreshments. All levels and new members welcome to come and try a session with a friend, carer or on your own. Please call or email first if you are planning to come along for the first time.

Artllnk West Yorkshire - a community arts organisation based in Leeds specialising in arts and health initiatives. Artlink hosts Studio 3, a weekly arts workshop for adult mental health service users.

Lincoln Green Grooves - free weekly 18+ Music Group Wednesdays 3-5pm. Explore instruments from around the world!

This is Me - a free self-esteem and confidence building group, with arts and craft activities, for women and non-binary people, run by Mentally Healthy Leeds. Mentally Healthy Leeds guitar group - a free beginners' group teaching you to play the guitar. The group runs every Tuesday from 1-2pm at Lincoln Green, 47 Cromwell Mount, Leeds LS9 7ST.
