Reducing barriers to same-day urgent mental health support.

Here For You, a vital community support service previously known as the Well-Bean Crisis Café, is announcing key updates to their offer of same-day urgent mental health support across Leeds, Kirklees, and Wakefield.

Effective from April 1, 2025, they are opening their doors earlier, from 3.30pm to 9.00pm, in Kirklees and Leeds to offer increased one-to-one support for individuals who are experiencing emotional distress, thoughts of self-harm, or suicidal ideation.

Support from Here for You is delivered by West Yorkshire mental health charity Touchstone. Touchstone recognises that many individuals who are struggling with their emotions and don’t know where to turn may not feel comfortable seeking help through traditional pathways, such as A&E or their GP, and may find it difficult to talk to loved ones due to fear of stigma or lack of understanding.

Here for You offers a safe, alternative space to talk to trained, local staff about anything causing distress. Their services are available every day of the year, free of charge, and accessible to anyone aged 16 years or older, regardless of their housing situation or local GP registration. This means that whether you are new to Leeds or Kirklees or facing homelessness, you can find the support you need without barriers. Their services are open to self-referrals via the online form, which is open 24/7, or over the phone during their opening hours.

Hannah Wild, Crisis Services Lead at Touchstone says:

“At Here For You, we understand that any of us can struggle with our emotions at any time, even if we do not have a diagnosed mental health condition, and the need for immediate support is key. Our services ensure that individuals can access confidential, compassionate mental health support when they need it most, because talking about our struggles and being open about our thoughts of self-harm or suicide are vital for saving lives and breaking the stigma.

Our approach centres around understanding and meeting individuals where they are, to help people navigate their mental health challenges in a manner that respects their privacy and dignity. Our goal is to offer immediate support and create a safe space for individuals to talk about their feelings and find the help they need. The changes to our opening times and support offer in Leeds and Kirklees will close gaps between daytime and out-of-hours support services and provide more dedicated one-to-one support time for those struggling.”
