The theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week starting next Monday is ‘Connect with nature’.
Litter picking, planting trees, group walks, trips to the countryside or coast, growing seeds, exercising outside, practising mindfulness, photography groups… if you’re planning to mark MHAW this year, the possibilities are endless! Many of us have appreciated nature more during Covid-19 restrictions, and there are lots of ways we can still enjoy the great outdoors and boost our wellbeing as the rules are changing.
MindWell social media campaign for MHAW
MindWell, will be running a nature campaign all week, highlighting the different ways we can spend time with nature to boost our wellbeing. We will also be promoting different nature groups and activities you can join in Leeds, green spaces to visit and ways you can enjoy nature from home. Keep checking our new Connect with nature web page for information about MHAW events and outdoor groups across the city. The campaign will have different themes and resources each day:
- Get moving in the great outdoors – Monday 10 May
- Connect with nature; connect with others – Tuesday 11 May
- Be Mindful in a green space – Wednesday 12 May
- Share what nature means to you – Thursday 13 May
- Bring the outdoors, indoors – Friday 14 May
- Get inspired by nature – Saturday 15 May
- Let’s take care of nature – Sunday 16 May

MindWell Refresh event
mHabitat and Volition will be hosting a live event for Mental Health Awareness Week to celebrate the MindWell rebuild funded by Leeds Better Care Fund.
This will be an opportunity to find out how the partnership is working together to improve MindWell through co-design and take a tour of the refreshed website.
There will also be a panel discussion about the use of digital to support people experiencing mental health difficulties.
