We love taking our MindWell stall to Leeds Pride, our city’s celebration of LGBT+ people and communities – it’s such a vibrant, colourful and exciting event. This year’s event was on Sunday 6 August and we joined the Angels of Freedom’s village fete in City Square.

The village fete offers a chance to escape the crowds in a calmer space. We set up our stall with the Leeds 2023 sculpture Making a Stand as our backdrop and enjoyed chatting to visitors, stall holders and even the Lord Mayor of Leeds!

Sharing our stall with Leeds Community Champions, we had a great time, giving out MindWell bookmarks, pens, rainbow wristbands and telling people how our website can help them find support for LGBT+ communities and LGBT+ support groups.

4 people stand behind a table covered with a purple cloth and lots of promotional items, including MindWell pens, bookmarks and rainbow wristbands and healthy living leaflets from Leeds Community Champions. In the background are tall, upright pieces of wood (a sculpture forest called Making a Stand) and the MindWell and Leeds Community Champions upright banners. The people all have light skin tones and are smiling and squinting into the sunshine. 1 has a pink top and long dark hair and wears a small ceremonial chain, the next has a pink jacket, short grey hair and glasses and the mayoral chains of office, then there’s a person in a multi-coloured sparkly top, with blonde hair fastened up and their hand shading their eyes. The final person wears a purple t-shirt and has short blonde hair.

The Community Champions team had lots of health and wellbeing resources to share and met with people to share more about their network of volunteers and the amazing opportunities they have to support the health and wellbeing of people in Leeds.

Thank you to Angels of Freedom for inviting us to your village fete – we had a blast!
