Age UK runs a befriending scheme – where a volunteer can visit or talk to an older person once a week in their own home.
They offer telephone befriending to speak to someone once a week or when required and also, face-to-face befriending for a cup of tea and a chat and can accompany them on an activity.
Age UK also runs the Age UK Advice Line, a free, confidential, national phone service for older people, their families, friends, carers and professionals, which is open 365 days a year from 8am to 7pm. Call 0800 678 1602.
