Need urgent help?

A community based initiative providing visible support for the LGBTQ+ community based in the Freedom Quarter area of Leeds every Friday evening. Volunteers from a range of different backgrounds and community knowledge work together to provide compassionate support to all members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans + community.

Each Friday from 6.00pm until 11.00pm they have a team of volunteers on Lower Briggate and Call Lane areas. The team provide safety reassurance to those enjoying the nightlife, assistance to anyone needing support (sometimes a chat, other times advice and signposting or practical things like phone charging) and promotion of LGBT+ social and support opportunities.

Angels of Freedom runs a montly LGBT+ Social Space & Support Hub, with refreshments, board games and chat: first Tuesday of the month, 5.00pm until 9.00pm at Age UK Leeds (Bradbury Building, Mark Lane).

Family, friends and allies are welcome to this event and parents/guardians are invited to speak to volunteers at the event, which includes other parents with lived experience of supporting their LGBTQ+ children (of all ages).  Alternatively, you’re welcome to attend with your young people, an accepting and affirming activity for all.

They also run football training, support badminton sessions with The Bad Mittens and have a monthly bar scene social. Find out more on the activities page on their website.
