The owls took over in the Playhouse Kitchen café! Our Wish Tree had lots of origami owls in bright colours dangling and there were more hanging from the rafters.

We have some great news to share – our Give a Hoot! Campaign, which launched earlier this year, has received funding from Leeds Inspired to run more free wellbeing workshops. That means more opportunities for you to come along, get creative and learn a new skill while enjoying a chat or simply taking time to relax.

In Spring this year, we ran origami owl workshops at Leeds Playhouse during their 1001 Stories celebration for older people as part of Leeds 2023 Year of Culture. You came, you saw, you made owls – dangling them from our tree and leaving your wishes for the future of Leeds.

We popped up again at Fire Engine Day at Leeds Old Fire Station in June, with children and families helping our collection of owls to expand and more wishes for the future being received.

We aim to create 1,000 owls with your help and are well on the way. Thanks to Leeds Inspired, we can plan more workshops and make as many owls as possible to show that people give a hoot and have something to say about the city’s future.

Every owl we receive represents someone who gives a hoot – so the more hoots, the better! If you run a community group or are holding an event over the next few months, and you’d like to organise a free wellbeing workshop, please get in touch with us to find out more.
