Mild to moderate mental health cases

Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service (LMWS) is recommended for mental health difficulties which are mild to moderate in severity. LWMS welcome referrals and provide a variety of interventions to support new parents, prioritising support for women and partners and main carers in the perinatal period. This includes group-based and 1:1 therapies, classes, one-off sessions and online support options.

Referrals and self-referrals can be made on the refer yourself page or call or email to discuss your referral.

Moderate to severe mental health cases

For moderate to severe issues, the specialist team at Women’s Counselling and Therapy Service provides individual counselling or psychotherapy for up to six months for women in the perinatal period. Women who are psychologically ready for therapy but are experiencing problems such as housing crisis or financial concerns can be referred to the casework service for support before accessing therapy.

Referrals and self-referrals can be made via the online referral form or call or email to discuss your referral.

Severe or complex mental health cases

For more severe or complex cases, a referral to Leeds Perinatal Mental Health Service can be made by using the form in the How to refer to our services section that can be emailed to perinataldutydesk.lypft@nhs.net
