Being You Leeds runs mental health training to help educate others on mental health and how to best support people struggling with their mental health.
Who can use our Fee funded courses?
- Available for third-sector frontline workers in Leeds.
- Also, people who work and volunteer in third sector support services and want to learn how to better support people who are struggling with their mental health.
- People living in Leeds who want to learn more about how to improve and support their wellbeing.
This training is delivered in partnership with providers Community Links, and Humans Being.

SafeTALK – Suicide Prevention Training in Leeds
SafeTALK is a half-day training course designed to help you to:
- Recognise people who may be at risk of suicide
- Ask clear, open questions about suicidal thoughts
- Connect individuals at risk to local sources of help

ASIST – Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
ASIST is a two-day training course designed to equip participants with skills in suicide intervention. It covers how to:
- Recognise invitations for help
- Reach out and offer support
- Review the risk of suicide
- Apply a structured suicide intervention model
- Link people to community resources

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a two-day (or 4 half-days) course that qualifies participants as a Mental Health First Aider. The course provides:
- An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that affect wellbeing
- Practical skills to spot triggers and early signs of mental health issues
- Confidence to step in, reassure and support someone in distress
- Enhanced interpersonal skills, including non-judgemental listening
- Knowledge to guide someone towards further support or recovery
