Mental health is about how we feel, think and behave. Our mental wellbeing can vary, and people can experience a range of different symptoms and difficulties.

It’s not always easy to know what to do if you’re worried about your mental health. There’s a lot of support available in the city, however, including many options you can access directly. People in Leeds are encouraged to ask for help when they need it.

MindWell can help you explore the options and find the right help for you.

Can sleeping tablets help me sleep?

Some people with severe insomnia may find it helpful to take sleeping tablets for a few nights. Sleeping tablets are habit forming and can be addictive, however, and can also affect the quality of your sleep. Many people feel groggy and have difficulty focusing the next day after taking a sleeping tablet. Addressing any problems which may be affecting your ability to sleep and improving your sleeping habits are much more effective in having a long-term impact on how you sleep. Talk to a GP if you’re concerned about sleeping tablets.
