Creating a mentally healthy workplace doesn’t have to fall on your shoulders alone. In Leeds there are free networks, campaigns, resources and tools that can help you make positive changes and support your staff.
Get involved in campaigns
Campaigns can be a great way to start conversations and show your commitment.
- This is Me Yorkshire – a nationwide campaign encouraging employers to change the narrative around mental health by sharing real staff stories and experiences. Find out how to get involved.
- ‘Check-in’ campaign – a West Yorkshire and Harrogate initiative that helps reduce staff suicide and build a wellbeing culture. It offers training, resources and signposting to normalise conversations about mental health. Visit the campaign website.
- Check in with your mate – a West Yorkshire campaign encouraging people to look out for men in their lives, normalise conversations about suicide, and signpost to support. Employers can access free resources, social media content and toolkits to share with staff. Explore the toolkit
- Become a West Yorkshire Suicide Prevention Champion – sign up online, watch a short training video and pledge how you’ll raise awareness in your workplace or community. Champions get access to resources and updates to help reduce the region’s higher-than-average suicide rate. Sign up today
Employer networks
Employers in Leeds can join free local networks to share learning and build a positive approach to mental health. A key option is Mindful Employer, a national initiative helping organisations take a positive approach to mental health at work.
Find out more and explore other options on our Local networks page.
Share MindWell with your staff
MindWell is the mental health information website for adults in Leeds. It brings together local services, self-help tools and crisis support in one trusted place — making it easier for people to get the right help at the right time.
By promoting MindWell in your workplace, you can:
- help staff find support quickly and confidently
- reduce stigma by keeping mental health information visible and accessible
- make line managers’ and wellbeing leads’ roles easier
Promote MindWell in your organisation – find suggested copy for staff newsletters, intranets and team briefings, plus ideas for introducing MindWell in inductions or 1:1s.
MindWell promotional materials – order free posters, flyers, bookmarks, wallet cards, email banners and plasma slides, or order printed copies via Leeds Public Health Resource Centre.
Book free training – we run bimonthly 50-minute online sessions to help staff feel confident using MindWell in signposting and support roles.
Self-help materials
We also have a library of self-help resources to share with staff. Try adding them to your intranet, noticeboards, or wellbeing newsletters.
