Frontline support workers and other healthcare professionals
If you’re helping others affected by the Cost of Living Crisis, you may be feeling stressed and under a lot of pressure. This may be due to an increase in the number of people seeking or in need of help, as well as the complex and challenging realities of people’s situations.
Visit our Support for GPs, frontline staff and other professionals for information about where to find help if you are struggling at work.
Feeling under pressure
It’s normal to feel a range of emotions – frustration, irritation, anger, sadness – if you’re not able to help people in the way you would like. You may also be regularly speaking with people who themselves are feeling stressed, which can be difficult to deal with on a daily basis.
West Yorkshire Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub
As they say, you can’t pour from an empty cup. To help others, we must first take care of our own wellbeing. If you work in a health and care environment and are experiencing feelings that are difficult to cope with, the West Yorkshire Health and Wellbeing Hub is completely confidential and offers advice and support that can help with a range of issues. Call freephone number 0800 183 1488 to access the message-taking phone service. You can request a wellbeing check-in call; to get signposting to self-help resources; ask for information about how to access group support, including critical incident support for people and teams; or referral to one-to-one therapy for you or your colleagues. The answer machine is checked regularly and you can expect a call back within 72 working hours. You will need to leave your name, contact number, and a brief description of your query or request. Please note that the phone line is unmanned – it is a message-taking service.
